Clearing Demolition Spoil from a Historic Building
Coveya was called upon by a demolition team working in a local leisure centre. This historic building had significant demolition spoil to clear following select internal demolition works.
The problem: space restrictions meant no traditional rubble-moving equipment, such as dumpers, could gain access to the demolished areas. Removal by hand was not a suitable solution, either, leaving demolition workers unable to remove spoil via typical methods.
With such significant access limitations, conveyors were the best option to safely remove spoil from the building without causing external damage. That’s where Coveya stepped in to help, arriving on-site for a full inspection to determine how we could help to resolve the issue.
Coveya’s Removal Solution
Coveya attended the site and examined the various possible exit routes for removing materials efficiently from the building. After determining the optimal route, our surveyor planned and sketched out a conveyor system. This included conveying materials through tight doorways and windows in order to deposit the materials into a large roll-on roll-off skip in an accessible area for safe removal.
Once plans had been agreed upon, we brought hired conveyor equipment into the building in modular sections, ensuring no damage to the historic building with careful construction. We assembled the conveyor system inside the building with an additional scaffold support structure and had the system installed and ready to operate within a single day.

Our planned conveyor system was up to the job, operating perfectly to swiftly dispose of materials from inside the building. The conveyor was loaded by a skid-steer loader and mini-diggers, ensuring a steady flow of spoil for the fastest possible results.
