Recycling comes in all shapes and sizes
Did you know that British households create over 26m tonnes of waste each year (according to a recent DEFRA report) with the average person throwing away approximately 400kg of waste each year, 7 times their body weight?
From the 26m tonnes of annual UK waste, 12m tonnes are recycled and 14m tonnes are sent to landfill sites which means that we only actually recycle 45% of our total waste, a 3% increase on 2010 and 5% less than the Governments target for 2020. So for all those recycling and waste management companies out there how can we improve the percentage of recycling from waste so year on year, less and less waste is sent to landfill?
Conveyors may have the answer.
From general waste in our black bins to metal, wood, clinical waste, biofuel, plasterboard, tyres, and carpets, conveyors efficiently and safely handle a vast range of recycling materials from delivery on-site, through to different stages of waste processing ready for storage or distribution. Conveyors can enable an increase in productivity and social distancing, eliminating downtime, and improving recycling and waste outputs.
Coveya already has a reputation for delivering market-leading conveyor systems throughout the recycling and waste industries and with a range of quality conveyors available for hire or purchase and an expert team of designers that can create bespoke conveyors to meet specific site needs, we are here to help recycling and waste companies optimise recycling to ensure targets are met, more waste is recycled and increases in demand can be efficiently dealt with whether the waste comes from commercial or residential premises.
It is important that we all play our part in increasing the amount of waste we recycle, giving it a new lease of life, supporting the environment, enabling recycling, and waste management businesses across the UK to make the most of what we throw away. Landfill needs to become a distant memory and recycling needs to be a way of life for all of us. Whether it’s now or well into the future, Coveya is here to help.
